Among other projects, the Beef CRC is working on developing a tick vaccine to protect cattle in northern Australia.
The cattle tick (Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus) is one of the biggest pests of producers in northern Australia and costs the industry in excess of $175 million dollars in annual losses.
Beef CRC researchers are aiming to develop a tick vaccine which would have at least 12 months immunity and more than 90 per cent efficacy.
More animal trials will get underway next year, but in the meantime we want to see whether you can protect the cattle industry from the cattle tick.
Good luck!!
