Step 5 - Results assessment
Step 5 - Results assessment - Beef CRC - Beef Genetic Technologies
Why do a results assessment?During Results Assessment we assess the results of the option we implemented in relation to: the actual impact we achieved relative to our focus; what worked well, and what didn’t achieve the results we were targeting; the efficiency with which these results were achieved; how we did in relation to minimising our total use of inputs; whether we produced some unexpected effects – additional benefits or innovations – direct or indirect negative effects. Without effective Results Assessment we don’t know to what extent the option we implemented contributed to our focus; we don’t know whether the option performed better or worse than what the Impact Analysis led us to expect; we don’t know whether implementation was effective and efficient; we don’t know whether to continue with the option, expand its implementation or stop doing it; we don’t know why things did or didn’t work; we don’t have any lessons or learning for how we would improve implementation in the future; we aren’t confident that if we did the same thing we would the same results; and we can’t really learn. The tools listed below can help you assess your results. |
Observations Questions Ideas & Opportunities
The purpose of the Observations, Questions, Ideas and Opportunities (OQIO) tool is to enable individuals and teams to make observations, and create questions and ideas arising from action and results, and to synthesise these into new opportunities for improvement.

Achievement stacker
Recognising and acknowledging achievements people have made towards individual, team, project or organisational targets or focuses is critical for motivation and success. However, often people have been so focused on implementing action they can’t always see the full range of things they have achieved. Also, seeing all the individual achievements in the one place is a great way to get a sense of the collective achievements of the partnership, team, project or organisation as a whole.
