 Date of this event: 20 September 2011 Swans Lagoon Beef Research Station (North Qld) has been northern Australia's premier beef research station for 50 years dedicated to RD&E for the beef industry. Over the years and in partnership with DEEDI, Meat Research Corporation and Meat & Livestock Australia have made significant investments in numerous research projects at Swans. The research station is now scheduled for sale following the purchase of a new Research facility north of Charters Towers.DEEDI will be holding one last event in September 2011 to celebrate Swans Lagoon's achievements and contribution to the beef industry. The event is expected to attract many beef producers, researchers and members of the local community. This event will highlight the importance of beef research and the substantial impact is has on improving the performance of beef businesses. It will provide an extension service to update producers in an informal and practical context. The purpose of this event is to: * discuss recent developments in beef research * provide a forum for producers to investigate the application of past and future research to their businesses * strengthen partnerships with producers, agribusiness, funders and research organisations for future research, development and extension programs * celebrate the contributions of Swan's Lagoon to the beef industry * communicate insights into the new Spyglass Beef Research Facility and the future of beef research |
